The Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has said that he is extremely happy to see the old Chelsea back after the team managed to keep the number of clean sheets in recent matches. The goalkeeper has also saluted the influence of the Spaniard Rafa Benitez, who replaced the former manager Roberto di Matteo a few weeks back. Immediately after taking over at the club, Benitez was given a hostile reception that the Chelsea fans. The team also did not do well in the first matches against Fulham and Manchester city, but they did two clean sheets in these encounters.

Under Roberto di Matteo, the team conceded 21 goals in just 10 matches as they slipped out of the title run-in and also the opportunity to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League. Since the arrival of Benitez, Chelsea have let in only eight goals in the last 10 matches. They also kept a clean sheet in an away match after a long time in the 1-0 win over Norwich. The 30-year-old goalkeeper made a number of crucial saves during the match, but was largely untroubled due to the excellent performance by the defence. The team is also scoring plenty of goals, which delights the goalkeeper.

“It is great to win a 1-0 game because it shows we were resilient and well organised. And, as well, we were patient enough to score one goal and control the game until the end. This is a very good sign. It is never easy when you win 8-0 and suddenly everybody thinks, ‘Ah, easy, another game’. But it didn’t go as well. Norwich played really well,” said Petr Cech. Chelsea are currently 11 points behind the leaders Manchester United in the table, but they do have a game in hand. They sit third in the Premier league table.
